What Probiotic Is Good For Dogs?

A good probiotic for dogs should contain beneficial strains, have high viability, and be suitable for the dog's specific needs.

Beneficial Strains:

Bifidobacterium: Can inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria and promote the absorption of minerals. It is suitable for puppies with immature immune systems and dogs with sensitive stomachs.

Saccharomyces boulardii: Known for its strong anti-inflammatory effect, it can effectively relieve diarrhea. It is not inactivated by antibiotics, making it an ideal choice for dogs taking antibiotics. It is also beneficial for elderly dogs as it can stimulate the secretion of substance P in the intestinal nerves and improve cognitive function.

Lactobacillus acidophilus: Can adjust the intestinal microenvironment and promote the growth of beneficial bacteria. It helps in decomposing food and producing lactic acid and other beneficial substances, which is conducive to maintaining the balance of the intestinal flora.

Bacillus subtilis: Has strong tolerance and can form spores in the dog's intestine to resist the erosion of stomach acid and bile. It can produce various enzymes, such as amylase and protease, to improve the digestibility of food.

High Viability: Probiotics need to be able to withstand the acidic environment of the stomach and reach the intestine alive to play a role. The viable bacteria count should reach an effective dose of \(10^{8}-10^{11}\) cfu/g. Products with a high acid tolerance rate, such as Saccharomyces boulardii with an acid tolerance rate of over 85%, are more likely to function effectively.

Suitable for Specific Needs:

For puppies, it is advisable to choose probiotics with mild strains, such as Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus acidophilus composites.

For adult dogs, broad-spectrum probiotics with multiple strains can be selected. For dogs with sensitive stomachs, probiotics containing Saccharomyces boulardii or Lactobacillus reuteri are recommended.

For dogs with diarrhea, constipation, or food allergies, specific strains such as Bifidobacterium animalis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Bacillus coagulans can be selected according to the symptoms.

Additional Ingredients: Some good probiotic products will also add prebiotics, such as fructooligosaccharides and galactooligosaccharides, which can promote the growth and reproduction of probiotics and enhance the effect of probiotics. At the same time, products without harmful impurities, artificial flavors, and colors are more secure and reliable.

The main thing with dog probiotics is whether the dog will even go for them. I have a Wheaton terrier that sometimes turns up his nose at these and other times is fine with them. The Bichon loves them (but then, Bichons will eat anything they believe are treats). The problem I found is that these mess up the gastrointestinal aspects of the Bichon so I stopped given them to him They seem to be effective for the Wheaton. Your mileage will vary for sure.

I like that these supplents are certified I like that this supplement contains a blend of probiotics as well as digestive enzymes that work together with 6 different live bacteria types to aid not just in digestive health, but also the immune system in addition to types of probiotic that combat yeast growth and skin allergies. I like that these supplements are certified by ISO CGMP CERTIFIED cGMP Certified Facility HACCP Certified My dogs usually like these types of supplements and if they don’t I just crumble them into their food.

I have been using these probiotic chews for my dog and they have been working really well so far. He seems more comfortable overall and his digestion has improved since starting them. I noticed less gas and better stool consistency, which was exactly what I was hoping for. The chicken flavor makes them very easy to give because my dog thinks they are treats instead of supplements. That makes it simple to use them daily without any hassle or resistance. I like that these include multiple probiotic strains along with prebiotics, which feels more complete for supporting gut health. The added Bacillus subtilis is also a nice feature since it is designed to survive digestion and actually reach the intestines. They seem especially helpful for dogs with sensitive stomachs or when there are changes in diet or routine. I also like that gut health is connected to overall wellness, including immune support and even skin health. Overall, these are a solid daily supplement for digestive support. Easy to use, dog approved flavor, and they seem to be helping with overall stomach comfort and balance.

This probiotic chew has been super helpful for my rescue bully. It has some great ingredients and is super easy to give to my dog because she loves the taste of them and thinks they are treats. She was in bad shape when we adopted her. She had several respiratory infections and was on medication that was giving her diarrhea. She was also extremely skinny and malnourished and her coat was very dull. After giving her these probiotics we have noticed a significant improvement in her coat. It is so shiny that people regularly stop us to compliment her coat. She is also having regular solid poops. This is something we will continue to give her. I would definitely recommend! Picture of her shiny coat!

Last week, I was at my wit's end watching my dog, Bella, suffer through yet another bout of digestive distress; her usual playful demeanor was replaced by a sad, droopy expression that broke my heart. Desperate for a solution, I stumbled upon Ronzeil Probiotics for Dogs and decided to give these soft chews a shot, hoping they would bring back Bella's spark. To my delight, within just a few days, I noticed a remarkable change—her tummy troubles eased, and she was back to her happy self, bounding around the house and wagging her tail with joy. Not only did these chews help with her sensitive stomach, but her coat also seemed shinier and healthier, making me a firm believer in the power of Ronzeil Probiotics.

This product is excellent. My two dogs aren't huge fans of the taste on its own, but the meat is incredibly tender and easy to break into small pieces. When I wrap the pieces in a bit of sliced cheese, they absolutely love it! I believe this product provides a rich supply of vitamins, and the probiotics help improve their gut health. It’s too early to tell what the long-term effects will be, but so far, I’m very satisfied.

I got these for some of the dogs digestion and some of their allergies bc I heard prebiotics and probiotics are good for that. The dogs love the taste and I see no digestive struggles so far. The skin does seem to bother them much less.

If your dog is constantly itching, I highly recommend this product. My 95 pound lab itches like crazy during the spring and summer. Before we took him to the vet to get his yearly med of Apoquel, we decided to try this product. Not only has his itching stopped about 90%, but his hair shedding has pretty much stopped also.
